From press release

Teammates at Syracuse University from 1991-94, the lacrosse careers of Dom Fin and Charlie Lockwood have always been intertwined.

That bond was evident again on Saturday, Oct. 24 as Fin and Lockwood were inducted as members of this year’s nine-person National Lacrosse Hall of Fame induction class at the Grand Lodge in Hunt Valley, MD.

Jake Curran (contributor), Diane Geppi-Aikens (coach; Loyola), Bob Hartranft (coach, Farmingdale H.S.), Julie Hull Elicker (player; James Madison), Sarah Nelson (player; Harvard), Maggie Vaughan (player; Harvard) and Brian Voelker (player; Johns Hopkins) join Fin and Lockwood in this year’s Hall of Fame class.

“You can almost think of lacrosse as a big brother keeping you in line,” Fin said. “Do your homework or you’re not going to make the team, you’re not going to be able to play. You make a mistake, you have to answer to the team. You don’t want to let your teammates down.”

As midfielders for the Orange, Fin, a former Yorktown HS (NY) star, and Lockwood combined for seven All-America nods and helped the Orange capture the 1993 national championship.

A star at nearby West Genesee High School, Lockwood succeeded Gary Gait in wearing Syracuse’s fabled No. 22 jersey. Like Gait, Lockwood was a four-time Orange All-American. Lockwood totaled 152 career points (87 goals, 55 assists), was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team in 1992 and 1993, and went on to win two world championships as a member of Team USA (1994, 1998).

Fin was a three-time, first-team All-American (1992, 1993, 1994) and won the Lt. Donald C. MacLaughlin Jr. Award as the nation’s top midfielder as a senior in 1994. A Syracuse captain and the MVP of the 1994 USILA North-South All-Star Game, Fin posted three 20-goal seasons and finished his collegiate career with 123 points (85 goals, 28 assists).

Established in 1957, the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame honors men and women who by their deeds as players, coaches, officials and/or contributors, and by the example of their lives, personify the great contribution of lacrosse to our way of life.
