Mamaroneck, which has won three Section 1 (NY) Class A titles the last four years, has just seen one of its rising senior standouts decide on his college destination with Eric Greenberg’s commitment to Lehigh University, a decision first reported by Joe Lombardi on July 1 on LaxLessons.com’s Lacrosse Insider premium coverage section.

The 5-foot-8, 145-pound Greenberg, a righty attackman/midfielder, scored the game-winner in overtime in Mamaroneck’s 12-11 win over Mahopac in the sectional final. He had six goals and one assist in the game. Mamaroneck went on to lose by just two goals to eventual state champ Niskayuna in the state quarterfinals.

Greenberg, who had 56 goals and 27 assists this past season, is Mamaroneck’s first 2016 tristate commit.

Recruiting abstractNow, here’s a Q&A with Eric on his commitment.

What were the main factors in your decision?
The primary reasons for my commitment to Lehigh are its outstanding academic reputation, great campus and the coaching staff.

What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
I considered and visited Colgate, Bucknell, Franklin & Marshall, and Gettysburg.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
I am an athletic, two-way midfielder with a high lacrosse IQ.  I like to get out in transition and create opportunities for my team.

egreenbergtweetWhat area of your game do you need to work on?
I need to work on all aspects of my game; in particular my off hand, as well as getting stronger.

How did you get introduced to lacrosse and what other sports have you played?
My brother, Scott, was the one who first taught me how to play lacrosse. I have played competitively both basketball and soccer.

What travel team do you play on what showcase events did you participate in?
I play for the Prime Time 2016 team and have played this Summer at the Adrenaline Cup, King Of The Hill, Crab Fest, Philly Invitational and Inside Lacrosse Invitational.

Any final thoughts and people you want to thank for helping you reach this point?
I would like to thank Mamaroneck High School Coach Jeff Barnard and Prime Time Director Nick Danielo, as well as my teammates. Of course I would also like to thank my sister, Lynn, and my brother Scott. Also a big thanks goes out to my parents who are always there for me.
