Fall 2014 Signing Week coverage

Cody Solmosy has never met a sport he doesn’t like.

The junior midfielder at Sachem East (NY) is also a four-year starter on the Flaming Arrows’ JV and varsity football teams. He also played volleyball and basketball in middle school.

But it was what happened while playing baseball as a first-grader that wound up starting a path he’s taken to collegiate lacrosse. Several members of Solmosy’s family urged him to give lacrosse a try. He did just that, and now, 10 years later, it’s resulted in an opportunity to play for a defending national champion.

Solmonsky verbally committed to Division II champion Limestone earlier this week, a decision first reported by Joe Lombardi on LaxLessons.com’s Lacrosse Insider premium coverage section.

Now, here’s a Q&A on hirecruiting_updates commitment.

What were the main factors in your decision?
The main factors of my decision was what they had to offer. I really enjoyed the college, and I can’t wait to win a national championship.

What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
Some of the other schools I was considering were Boston University, Rutgers University, Monmouth University, Drexel University and the University of Tampa.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
My shot on the run, my physicality, and my lacrosse IQ. Also I am a downfield dodger.

Cody Solmosy TweetWhat area of your game do you need to work on?
My defense.

How did you get introduced to lacrosse and what other sports have you played?
I got introduced to the game when I was in first grade by my father, brother and my mom always bugging me to pick up a stick. If it wasn’t for them, I probably wouldn’t have this opportunity.

What travel team do you play on what showcase events did you participate in?
During the offseason I play for Team Sachem East.

The showcases I attended were first look, Blue Chip 225, I was selected for the all star team, and I was a top 44 player in the Long Island region for the Under Armour all America game.

Any final thoughts and people you want to thank for helping you reach this point?
I would like to thank my family for always pushing me to get what I want.
