Several members of the Syosset HS (NY) boys lacrosse team are hoping for twin titles during the 2014-15 school year.

The Braves won their first-ever Long Island title in football this past fall after taking the Nassau County championship for the first time since 40 years.

Syosset’s most recent LI title in lax came in 2008 and it last won the Section 8 title in 2012.

One of the Syosset players hoping to wear another ring is Alex Concannon.

Ranked high in LaxLessons’ Tristate Top 100 preseason player rankings, the 5-foot-6, 166-pound Concanccon is a senior wide receiver in football and attackman in lacrosse who committed to Johns Hopkins heading into his sophomore year in 2012.

playerperspectiveNow, here are Alex’s perspectives on the upcoming season.

What have you been doing to get ready for the season?
I am currently working out with teammate Joe Majoy at LifeTime Fitness getting up our strength and speed.

How does your schedule look, what games are you looking forward to most, and who are some of your scrimmages against?
(Syosset Head) Coach (John) Calabria always gives us a tough schedule because he believes we can compete with the best.

I’m looking forward to out of conference teams Garden City, Manhasset and Cold Spring Harbor.

In our conference I am looking forward to play Farmingdale, Port Washington and (defending state champion) Massapequa.

What players on your team do you think will surprise some people this season?
Two players this year who I think will surprise a lot of people are Lucas Cotler and Michael Hatzopoulos.

Lucas is a junior commit bound for Yale University.  He’s a big, athletic kid who I think is going to make a big impact. Great downhill dodger.

Mike is a senior who is going to St. John’s University.  He is a great shooter and can dodge from up top, from either wing or from behind at X.  He’s very good with either hand.

What do you think the strength of your team will be this year?
Our offense will be our biggest strength.  We only lost one senior in our offense and have a bunch of young freshman and sophomores coming up who could make a big impact as well.

We are all good friends off the field so the chemistry is very high.

How do you view the race in your league and who do you think some of the contending teams will be?
Some teams we are looking out for in our league are Farmingdale, Port Washington and Massapequa. They are three very good teams who can make an impact in our conference this year.
