Tyler Previte

Connecticut power Wilton just saw its fourth rising sophomore commit with defender Tyler Previte’s verbal to Lafayette, a decision first reported by Joe Lombardi on LaxLessons.com’s Lacrosse Insider premium coverage section.

Previte is a physical player who always slides with the full force of his 6-foot. 195-pound frame. The righty also has a high lax IQ and excellent communication skills.

Recruiting abstractNow, here’s a Q&A with Tyler on his commitment.

What were the main factors in your decision?
Compared to some of the bigger schools I saw, Lafayette’s campus really stood out to me. I thought it was the perfect size and fit for me as soon as I got there.

Another factor in my decision was the quality of academics at the school. The opportunity to play the sport I love at a school as prestigious and beautiful at Lafayette sold me as well as the amazing coaching staff that toured me around the campus.

What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
Syracuse, Ohio State and Boston University.

Have you decided what academic major you plan to pursue?
Economics

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
My communication and lax IQ. I also am a very physical player who always slide with body.  I would describe my play as old school in a way, physical.

What area of your game do you need to work on?
I can always improve my footwork and left hand

How did you get introduced to lacrosse and what other sports have you played?
I got into lacrosse in first grade because of a friend who was on the team, so I tried out and have been addicted to it since. I currently play football and basketball.

What travel team do you play on what showcase events did you participate in?
Long Island Express North. I attended the Philly Freshman Showcase in the fall, Jake Reed Nike Bluechip, and the Prep School Showcase.

Any final thoughts and people you want to thank for helping you reach this point?
I would first like to thank all of my teammates because I would not be able to do this without them.

A special thanks to Coach Wiseman and Coach Pearsall for helping me improve my skills and showing me what it takes to win games.

Thank you to Coach Schreiber, Coach Dollar, and Coach Muller from Express North for helping me through the recruiting process. Last but not least I would like to thank my parents because none of this would be possible without them, thank you for driving me to every practice and tournament all over the country!!
