It was a busy Tuesday of action in the nation’s No. 1 lacrosse hotspot, the NY/NJ/CT tristate region on Tuesday.
Among the highlights:
* Princeton-bound Joey Froccaro had four goals and won 17-of-20 faceoffs as Port Washington (NY) beats Friends Academy (NY) 13-7.
* Adelphi University-bound senior attackman Michael Osmundsen had eight goal and two assists for Hicksville (NY) in 14-10 win over Locust Valley (NY).
* Stony Brook University-bound Owen Daly was 15-of-15 on faceoffs as defending Long Island Class B champ Lynbrook beat Farmingdale 8-4.
* Michigan commit, 2018 attackman JP Lannig had three goals as unbeaten Syosset (NY) beat Cold Spring Harbor (NY) 11-4.
* Freshman phenom Herschel Halesworth, a Sleepy Hollow (NY) transfer, has four goals as defending CHSAA Metro AA champ Iona Prep won its opener at St. Dominick’s 8-5.
* A balanced scoring effort led defending Suffolk (NY) Class A champion Smithtown East to a 17-6 season-opening win at East Islip.
Now, we’re set for a jam-packed Wednesday as New Jersey varsity squads get their seasons started.
The most interesting matchup of the day is Summit at Delbarton in a rematch of last year’s Delbarton New Jersey Tournament of Champions one-goal win.
There are also some big clashes on Long Island, including Suffolk powers Smithtown West and Half Hollow Hills West (with Hills West looking for its first win vs. Smithtown West in 15 years) and a showdown of defending state champs as Chaminade (CHSAA AAA) hosts Massapequa (NY Class A).
