High School Zone: Long Island NY

The season is about to begin in earnest in New York, so I figure it’s high time I lay out there who I think will ultimately get to Rochester come June 6. I will stop short of actually predicting a champion in each classification, but I will throw out there four teams in each class […]

John Brandofino, left, who scored 45 goals last season for Mahopac, picked up where he left on Tuesday, scoring six times in the Indians’ 11-5 win against Fordham Prep. Tyler Perrelle, who had 63 goals a year ago, scored four in the opener for Mahopac, which plays Somers on Thursday. (Jim Stout/MaxPreps.com) 1997. 2006. Those […]

Hey guys, Every Sunday I will post some scores from the weekend that we think you will be interested in. Of course, I’m not going to post everything, but feel free to add in any scores you want. • For a look at predictions for this coming week’s games, click here.

Now, it all starts. Yes, folks. Just think about it. From now on (through most of the region at least), we won’t have to talk about scrimmages and precisely what they mean — if anything — in the grand scheme of things. Because now, our friends in Suffolk, Westchester, Rockland, Putnam and Dutchess are all […]

For many teams, the preseason officially ends on Saturday. And it will end with a bang with some big events and scrimmages set and a few regular-season games as well.

Cold Spring Harbor’s 8-6 win over Syosset earned it a spot in the latest Under Armour/Inside Lacrosse national power rankings, which were released today. CSH checks in at No. 11. Syosset, meanwhile, slipped from No. 5 to No. 13. Other teams in the region moved up in the rankings.

The second annual Lacrosse Day of Championships boys/girls lax games featuring Manhasset’s varsity teams will be available on the Sports Webcasting Network.

Princeton recruit Robert Lucas of Chaminade scored the first of his two goals in the second minute of the game as the Flyers opened their season with a 10-4 victory against Massapequa in Mineola. Chaminade is ranked No. 13 in the LaxLessons’ preseason Top 25 while Massapequa is No. 15. (Jim Stout/MaxPreps.com)   Our friend and […]

So what can we all expect from “A View from the Dome”? Well, I can assure you I won’t spend the scarce available time I have to help out LaxLessons.com with mindless banter about SU lacrosse. Nor will I wax poetic about life on the SU campus. (No, and not the night life either! Though […]

Are you ready? We sure are. We’ve been talking quite a bit about who the best teams in the region are. But talk is cheap. We decided to do something about it.

It wouldn’t have been surprising at all if Syosset had stumbled a bit out of the gate this season. The Braves, who beat Yorktown […]

As usual, the talent level on Long Island is pretty impressive. And national powers West Islip, Syosset, Manhasset, St. Anthony’s and Garden City are all a big reason for that. Before we get to the players’ list, I’d like to pass along a quick programming note. The high school season will start off with a […]

Once the high school season gets rocking and rolling, we will take a look at a few key games and key things to keep an eye on each day. In the meantime, we will be previewing what is lying ahead this coming week. So here goes.
