The commitments continue to roll in gang. As always, you can check out an archive of the recruiting updates we’ve posted here by clicking here Our updated recruiting review and commitment rundown is also available 24/7. Late tonight, I got word of yet another major junior class commitment. Sachem North’s Michael Andreassi, a junior attackman/midfielder, […]

Junior attackman Brian Coleman of Garden City has committed to Penn. (File photo by Jim Stout/MaxPreps.com) The Garden City Trojans fell to Sayville in a squeaker last year in the state quarterfinals. But the Trojans appear to be the Class B team to beat on Long Island this season given the fact that 11 players […]

Speed kills. It’s so important, in fact, that some players get by on it alone. Add scoring ability, smarts and stick skills and you have a complete college prospect. Meet St. Anthony’s midfielder Joe LoCascio, the 29th-ranked junior in the nation by Inside Lacrosse, who has given a verbal commitment to the University of Maryland. […]

Manhasset won a state championship for the third time in program history last year. But the Indians lost a strong senior nucleus from that team, including attackman Connor English, who is now a freshman at Virginia. English had nine — count ’em, nine — goals in a 16-11 win over LaFayette in the state title […]

The annual Darien vs. Manhasset and Chaminade vs. Yorktown showdowns will have special meaning this coming season. They will be played at West Point as part of Jim Regan Day at West Point on Saturday, April 24. Army will be hosting Holy Cross at noon. More on that in a moment.

Lacrosse is not exactly front and center on Greg D’Arienzo’s mind these days. Who can blame him? After all, the rising senior from Carey High School in Franklin Square is busy preparing for the football season. Last season, he rushed for 1,300 yards and 11 touchdowns and earned all-Nassau County honors.

With the summer now all but over, let’s take a look at some of the major college commitments among top rising seniors from Long Island.

Congratulations to poster “ATTACK,” a laxer from Darien, whose post on our “Name the Top 5 laxers of all-time” thread was selected as the winner of our $100 Dick’s Sporting Good gift card giveaway. You can check out what he wrote by clicking on the link and scrolling down to Comment No. 23. Now though, […]

Terence Pfeifer, right, and Hicksville will face West Islip in Tuesday’s Class A Long Island championship game. Simply put, any of the three Long Island championship games are almost as big as a state final. This year will be no exception as six schools have emerged from the regular season and sectional wars to get […]

Port Washington’s Jeff Froccaro was named Nassau County’s midfielder of the year. Hey gang – Congrats to Connor English of Manhasset, who was selected by coaches as the Nassau County player of the year. You can check out the complete list of honorees here.

Which attackman is going to get the first vote? We’ll find out tonight at the strike of midnight when week-long voting for our inaugural LaxLessons.com all-region team starts.

Though all three favored teams wound up winning, there was plenty of drama tonight in the Nassau County championships at Hofstra University.
