Ty Schuldt became the first Yorktown Husker in the Class of 2011 to commit to a college last week when he gave a verbal commitment to accept a scholarship offer from the University of Hartford. Today, we conducted a Q&A with Ty on his college choice.

Starting on Wednesday and ending Sunday, New York state’s premier annual athletic showcase, the Empire State Games, will be held in Buffalo. But this year’s Games are unlike any other.

Next week, the most tradition-rich summer lacrosse recruiting showcase, the Empire State Games, gets under way in Buffalo. But there are some other big events beforehand. Yale and Hofstra are both hosting major tournaments on Saturday and Sunday.

The Sound Shore League, which includes four men’s adult and one high school division of teams from the Hudson Valley/Connecticut region has finalized its championship game schedule. Five championships will be awarded Aug. 1 and Aug. 2.
