It’s the busiest time of year for major D-I commitments in the nation’s No. 1 hotspot for lacrosse, the NY/NJ/CT tristate region. Get caught up right here, right now.

Having an older brother who has gone through the Division I lacrosse recruiting process proved to be a big benefit for Kevin Lindley.

The rising sophomore at defending Connecticut Class M state champion Darien benefitted from the unofficial visits his brother Peter took before committing to UMass in October 2012. Peter Lindley helped lead Darien to an unbeaten season and Connecticut Class M state title as a senior this past spring.

klindley2One of the programs Peter Lindley considered was Loyola. That’s something that left an impression on his younger brother, who verbally committed to the Greyhounds last week, a decision first reported by Joe Lombardi on LaxLessons.com’s Lacrosse Insider premium coverage section.

“I was really only interested in Loyola,” Kevin said. “I was fortunate to see schools when my brother was looking and I knew I was going to target Loyola.”

Just like his brother, Kevin is a lefty attackman. He becomes both Darien’s first 2017 commit and Loyola’s first 2017 verbal from the NY/NJ/CT tristate region.

Kevin and Peter are the sons of Lisa Lindley, the longtime and successful coach of Darien’s girls lacrosse team, which went 21-2 and won FCIAC and Connecticut Class M state title, giving the Blue Wave twin conferences and state titles in boys and girls lacrosse.

The 5-foot-8, 135-pound Kevin Lindley has a strong, accurate shot and outstanding athleticism.

recruiting_updateNow, here’s a Q&A with Kevin on his commitment.

What were the main factors in your decision?
I wanted a small school that had a great academic program and provides academic support. .I also wanted to go to a school that had a very strong lax program, and a school where lacrosse was their main sport.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
My strengths as a player is my quickness my ability to finish and my ability to see the field I would describe my style of play to be aggressive and hard nosed.

What area of your game do you need to work on?
I need to work on my right hand and I need to get stronger and I need my outside shot to get stronger and harder.

How did you get introduced to lacrosse and what other sports have you played?
Well, my mom is an awesome coach at Darien High School and was awesome player, so I would always go to her practices since I was a very little boy. I used to warm up the goalies at practice and pregame. I play tennis in the summer and I used to play travel hockey up until last year.

What travel team do you play on what showcase events did you participate in?
I play for the Eclipse Lacrosse Club and the showcases that I went to are Legacy and the Philly Showcase in the fall. I was suppose to go to Maverik Showtime, but I was hurt at the end of the high school season.

Any final thoughts?
I would like to thank Jamie Hanford, Chip Buzzeo, Jon Appelt and Garth Appelt and my high school coach Jeff Brameier.
