St. John’s has been shining brightly in the tristate recruiting spotlight of late.

Chalk up another commitment for the Red Storm.

It comes from Trinity-Pawling School incoming post-grad student Luke Roediger, as reported by Joe Lombardi on LaxLessons.com’s Lacrosse Insider premium coverage section.

Roediger, who played for Somers High School (NY) this past spring is a close defenseman/LSM who will enroll at Trinity-Pawling in September as a postgraduate.

This past season at Somers, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Roediger, a righty, was an all-section and all-league selection at close defense.

Now, here’s a Q&A with Luke on his commitment.

What were the main factors in your decision?
The academics, and location were the biggest factors. The campus is really nice and the coaches are very supportive.

What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
I visited and was interested in Providence, Navy and Union. All of their coaches gave me lots of great feedback and showed great interest.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play
My stick skills, and knowledge of the game. I am a tough player who likes to pick up groundballs, and play aggressive defense.

What area of your game do you need to work on?
I need to work on many areas of my game, but this year I am going to be focusing on my footwork and speed.

How did you get introduced to lacrosse and what other sports have you played?
My mom signed me up to play, and I loved it from the start. I also wrestled for five years on Somers’ varsity wrestling team.

What travel team do you play on what showcase events did you participate in?
I played for New England Storm at King of the Hill. I also went to the Prep Showcase, Moonlight Showcase and Blue Chip 225.

Any final thoughts?
I want to thank all my coaches that helped me earn this opportunity, Coach Tim Schurr, Coach Brian Dalton and Coach Nic Bell who really helped me throughout the recruiting process.

I especially would like to thank my parents for allowing me to go to all of the summer showcases and supporting me the whole way.

I also would like to thank my sister Claire, who plays for Manhattan College, and my little brother Graham who is next up.
