bburnsIt’s more than 300 miles between Smithtown East High School (N.Y.) and Penn State University.

But the lacrosse programs at those respective places are narrowing that gap very quickly.

Bobby Burns, a freshman midfielder, became the latest Smithtown East standout to verbally commit to Penn State.

Gerard Arceri, a sophomore faceoff specialist, became Penn State’s first Class of 2016 commit back in July.

Both commitments were first reported by Joe Lombardi on LaxLessons.com’s Lacrosse Insider premium coverage section.

The 5-foot-9 Burns, a lefty, is a two-way player with tremendous stick skills and shooting ability. A three-sport standout for the Bulls, he also plays football and basketball.
