There was no doubt who’s No. 1 in New Jersey boys lacrosse this past spring.

Delbarton beat Summit 7-5 in the Tournament of Champions title game to end the Hilltoppers’ 21-game win streak. That win came after the Green Wave dealt Bergen Catholic its first loss, winning the Non-Public A title game 6-5 in double OT.

How does Delby look in 2015?

For more, we caught up with senior attackman/midfielder TJ Comizio, who verbally committed to Villanova in September 2013.

playerperspectiveNow, here are TJ’s perspectives on the upcoming season.

What have you been doing to get ready for the season?
Our football season just ended, so I haven’t had the chance to do too much, but now that it is over, our team will be doing a lot of strength and conditioning work and just trying to play as much as possible so we can go into the preseason and not have to waste any time knocking the rust off.

How does your schedule look, what games are you looking forward to most, and who are some of your scrimmages against?
Our schedule this year is very similar to what it has been in years past.

We scrimmage Garden City, Trinity-Pawling and John Jay.

Our first real game is a rematch of the T of C final last year against Summit, so we are very excited about that.

As always, we are looking forward to the games against schools like Mountain Lakes, Chaminade, and St. Anthony’s.

What players on your team do you think will surprise some people this season?
I don’t think there is any one player in particular, but we lost a lot of starters and key contributors in the senior class last year so there will have to be some new players this year that step up and contribute in big roles.

What do you think the strength of your team will be this year?
Our teams are always very tight and close-knit, which gives us an advantage, and that will be no different this year.

We also have a lot of good young players to go along with the returning players from last year’s team.

How do you view the race in your league and who do you think some of the contending teams will be?
I think it will be competitive again just like it always is.

Bergen Catholic, Summit, Mountain Lakes and the other usual contenders should all be very good this year.
