Dan Daley found a lot to like about Saint Leo University in addition to its location.

In fact, what’s available in class had just as much to do with his choice as what awaits him on the field, as you’ll soon learn.

It all added up to the Class of 2015 Sachem East HS (NY) attackman committing to Saint Leo, a decision first reported when it was made by Joe Lombardi on’s Lacrosse Insider premium coverage section.

The 5-foot-10, 160-pound righty is a feeder/finisher with outstanding field vision.

recruiting_updateNow, here’s a Q&A with Dan on his commitment.

What were the main factors in your decision?
Saint Leo is in the Sunshine State Conference which has very strong competition and that appealed to me.

Also, after speaking with (Saint Leo Head) Coach (Brad) Jorgensen, I knew this would be the perfect fit for me.

The state-of-the-art equipment in the classrooms, as well as small class sizes played a big factor in my decision. Plus you can’t beat the beautiful weather.

What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
I visited Pace University, St. John’s University, University of Tampa and Franklin Pierce University.

ddaleyhedshotWhat are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
I play the “X” position. I love this position because I can see the whole field. I love to dodge and look to feed inside.

What areas of your game do you need to work on?
I feel I could always improve my off hand and shot placement.

How did you get introduced to lacrosse and what other sports have you played?
I started playing lacrosse when I was in sixth grade. One of my close friends played and after I watching a game, I wanted to play. I also play ice hockey.

What showcase events did you participate in?
This summer, I participated in the Under Armor Showcase , Tampa Prospect camp, Stony Brook Showcase and also UMass Elite.

Any final thoughts?
I want to thank my parents for supporting me and giving me the opportunity to play college lacrosse.

Also, my high school coaches for all the help and guidance they have given me over the years.
