Katie Feigenbaum has been saving the day both for her high school team, Eastchester (NY), and at several showcase events.

Feigenbaum had 554 saves the last three varsity seasons and just placed in the top 10 for the 2015s at the Guardian Goal National Championships in Manheim, Pa. She placed in the top four in reactionary saves.

Soon, Feigenbaum will be making her stops at the next level. She has verbally committed to Division II St. Thomas Aquinas College, a decision first reported last week by Joe Lombardi on LaxLessons.com’s Lacrosse Insider premium coverage section.

The 5-foot-7 Feigenbaum, a rising senior, is a righty who is aggressive in the cage and a strong communicator. You can watch her highlight reel here.

recruiting_updateNow, here’s a Q&A with Katie on her commitment.

What were the main factors in your decision?
T
he college had the academic programs I needed for what I wanted to major in: PreLaw/Political Science. The campus was the right size and I got a great feeling from it, and I felt like I could really succeed in my lacrosse career on the STAC lacrosse team.

What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
Skidmore College, Pace University, Manhattanville College, Siena College, University of Florida, University of Delaware, Iona College, Ithaca College and Fairleigh Dickenson.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
I communicate well with my defense and can react to any situation that may come in a game. My style of play is more of an “active” goalie; I’m not afraid to go for a loose ball out of the crease or run the ball up the field when needed.

What area of your game do you need to work on?
I think the area of the game I most need to work on is adjusting to different levels of play, since it will soon increase in difficulty in college.

How did you get introduced to lacrosse and what other sports have you played?
I got introduced when the town I live in first started its lacrosse program when I was in 3rd grade. Some of my friends where going to play so I decided it would be fun to try.  I have played soccer and currently play varsity tennis in my lacrosse off seasons.

What showcase events did you participate in?
This summer, I played with my club team, House of Sports Academy 2015’s at the Capital Cup, Champions Cup, the Grind, the Northeast Challenge and then I was invited and participated in the Guardian Goalie National Championships.  At Guardian, I placed 10th overall and fourth in Reactionary (saves) for the 2015’s.

Any final thoughts?
I would just like to thank my parents for supporting me throughout all the years of playing and my club team coaches at House of Sports, for pushing me to play at my highest potential.
