It was quite a Thursday indeed.
For starters, the top-ranked team in the LaxLessons.com Tristate Top 25, Smithtown West, is unbeaten no more. The Bulls’ first loss of 2014 came to intra-district rival Smithtown East as Bobby Burns scored off a nice feed from John Daniggelis with 15 seconds left in an 11-10 win, clearly the biggest win in East’s program history.
In Connecticut, Ridgefield added a win against Yorktown, which last week knocked Chaminade from the ranks of the unbeaten, to a resume that includes a triumph over two-time NY state champ Garden City.

Two big Section 8 (NY) games headline today’s slate.
Massapequa (NY), whose only losses have come against Chaminade (NY) and Garden City (NY), hosts Nassau rival Hicksville (NY) at 7 p.m.
Two other premier programs in Section 8, Syosset and Port Washington, meet at Syosset-Woodbury Community Center at 4:45 p.m.
Over in Suffolk, Bayport-Blue Point plays at Comsewogue in a matchup of teams jockeying for playoff positioning.
