Brendan Sunday and Arlington fell to Mahopac 13-9 in a Section 1 (NY) Class A clash.
High School Scoreboard Central, Thursday, 4/3
It was a wild Thursday in the nation’s No. 1 hotspot for lacrosse, the NY/NJ/CT tristate region, with a couple of monumental results on Long Island headlining the action.
South Side beat national power Manhasset for the first time ever. Over in Suffolk, Northport beat defending New York state champion Ward Melville for the first time in a decade. For more on both those games, click here.
Now to today,
In the prep ranks, a Brewster Academy (NH) team coming off a 17-1 season will play at national power Trinity-Pawling (NY). It will be “Friday Night Lights” in this 7:30 p.m. start at T-P. (Changed from 7 p.m.)
On Long Island (NY), a Syosset team tested by a tough schedule will play at Farmingdale (NY), which is off to a solid start.
Also of note, in a big Ivy League (NY) battle, Poly Prep plays at Hackley. Also of note, Fieldston (NY) visits Rye Country Day (NY) in a key early test for both teams.
In New Jersey, St. Augustine Prep (NJ) hosts Gloucester Catholic (NJ) in an even matchup between two quality programs.
Up the road in Rockland County, Pearl River (NY) plays at Clarkstown South (NY). It’s always a heated one when these rivals go at it.
Also in Rockland, the site of the North Rockland-Tappan Zee game has been changed to Tappan Zee for 4:30 p.m. because of field conditions.
Hill Academy (ONT), coming off a big win over a Brunswick team highly regarded in some circles, will play another highly touted team from some down inside the Beltway, this time at Salisbury (Conn.)
Speaking of inside the Beltway, Gilman (MD) visits Loyola Blakefield (MD) in an interesting matchup of traditional powers in the age-old, proud launching pad of lacrosse, the Baltimore area. Also of note, St. Mary’s (MD) visits St. Paul’s (MD).
Beyond the Northeast, La Costa Canyon hosts Torrey Pines in a clash of California powers.
Down in the Peach State, Lovett (GA) hosts Westminster (GA).
Further south still, St. Andrew’s (FL) plays at Lake Highland Prep (FL).
