There was a major move in the world of college lacrosse yesterday.

Joe Lombardi reported on LaxLessons.com’s “Lacrosse Insider” section that Princeton University filled its assistant coaching vacancy created when Greg Raymond left to become head coach at Hobart.

NandNFormer Army three-time All-American John Walker is the new assistant under coach Chris Bates. He will also serve as defensive coordinator, a position he held at Virginia the last three years.

Walker is a former Half Hollow Hills West HS (N.Y.) star, whose dad, Wesley, was a star wide receiver for the New York Jets.

Later in the day yesterday, Princeton issued a press release confirming Joe’s report. You can read it here.

Also this week, we’ve been providing updates on the annual lacrosse festival known as the Lake Placid Lacrosse Summit, which is a year shy of its 25th anniversary. You can get caught up with championship results, stories and photos here.

Recruiting is always in the spotlight when it comes to lacrosse. The newly launched program at the University of Michigan has been making majors strides as we’ve documented. Our reports on the recruiting efforts of head coach John Paul and his staff are featured in this story.

We continue now with the best of this week’s lacrosse news on one page.
