We’ve highlighted quite a few stories the last few months that have documented the growth of lacrosse.

We’ll get to more in a moment.

But we start with a story right smack in the heart of the nation’s No. 1 hotbed for lacrosse, Syracuse, N.Y., the second annual Empire State Cup is being played.

Change could be in the air next year, with a possible move of locale to New York City.

Now, we move to the Land of Lincoln — the state of Illinois.

NandNIt includes data that’s been oft-reported, such as a 77 nationwide growth in youth participation from 2006-12 and a jump in the number of varsity team to more than 4,400.

But this story, from the News-Gazette in East Central Illinois, documents one family that used availability of a youth lacrosse program as a determining factor in deciding where to move.

We continue now with the best of this week’s lacrosse news on one page.

Here are more stories in our “News & Notes” feature, where we highlight not only important news, but good journalism. These are the most newsworthy, interesting, best reported, originally sourced and well-written stories from throughout the lacrosse world this past week.
