The Fowler/Duke connection is in full force.jackf

Duke faceoff star Brendan Fowler and incoming Duke freshman goaltender Danny Fowler will have another Blue Devil brother.

Rising junior longstick midfielder Jack Fowler has verballed to Duke, as first reported last week at Twitter.com/Joe_Lombardi.

Jack Fowler is a technically sound defender who plays well off the ball. In addition, he also takes faceoff.

Now, here’s a Q&A with Jack on his commitment.

What were the main factors in your decision?
First of all, Duke is a great school from an academic standpoint. That was very important to me as well as its lacrosse team always being a contender for the national championship.

When I visited I loved the campus and location and it felt like the right place for me.  Also, (Duke Head) Coach (John) Danowski and the rest of the staff are awesome and made this process great for me.

How important a factor was the fact that Brendan plays at Duke and Danny will be playing there as well?
This was definitely an important factor that went into my decision. I have a very close relationship with my brothers and Brendan always told me that he loved it down there. Also being able to play college lacrosse with my brother (Danny) will be an incredible experience.

recruiting_updateWhat other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
I also considered Yale, Harvard and UPenn. I visited all of their campuses and it was very hard to say no to such amazing schools.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
My strengths include playing good off-ball defense and I do well playing team defense. I also face off and have improved greatly with Brendan helping me out.

How did you get introduced to lacrosse and what other sports have you played?
I started playing lacrosse in first grade. I played on Danny’s third-grade team because there was no peewee league for first grade. My dad grew up in Queens and went to Villanova for football. He didn’t know much about lacrosse but he coached our team. I played lacrosse, football, basketball and wrestling in middle school but now I only play football and lacrosse

What travel team do you play on what showcase events did you participate in?
I played for the Long Island Express this summer and I played in the New England Prep School Showcase and the Under Armour Uncommitted Game. I also played in other tournaments with the Express and I played in one tournament in Maryland with a Chaminade team at the National High School Showcase.

Any final thoughts?
I want to thank my mom and dad for always being there for me and helping me so much in whatever way he can, whether its on or off the field.  Also my brothers have been a huge help to me as well. Also all of the great coaches that have helped me out through out the years I would be no where without them

Amazing with the Froccaros (Princeton) and now Fowlers (Duke) with 3 brothers at the same college.
