Liam DaRos didn’t have too look to far to find a perfect college fit.

Rising senior Liam DaRos of Brewster High School (N.Y.) committed to Fairfield University, as first reported at Twitter.com/Joe_Lombardi.

An athletic, two-way midfielder, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound DaRos is a strong shooter with a high lacrosse IQ. He also is a two-way starter on the Bears’ football team at quarterback and safety.

He is the eighth member of the Prime Time 2014 team to commit and the second player on his team to commit to Fairfield, joining Fordham Prep (N.Y.) faceoff specialist Joe DeLasho. DaRos is Brewster’s second Class of 2014 commit, with Hofstra University-bound defender Joe Serrecchia being the other.

recruiting_updateNow, here’s a Q&A with Liam on his commitment.

What were the main factors in your decision?
I wanted to find a school that fit my needs both athletically and academically. After an extensive visit with (Fairfield Head) Coach (Andy) Copelan, Fairfield University ultimately rose to the top of my list.  Coach Copelan made me feel at home and I knew coming out of the visit he was the coach I wanted to play for.

I felt like the overall integrity and status of Fairfield as a university as well as a lacrosse program made it the perfect fit for both my family and myself. The opportunity for top-notch academics and the potential to compete for a national championship, ultimately made me decide to become a Fairfield Stag.

What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
I considered Delaware, Drexel, Rutgers, Boston University, Dartmouth, Yale and Providence.  Of those schools, I was invited to visit Delaware, Rutgers, Providence, Dartmouth and Yale.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
Some of my strengths include shooting, both on the run in addition to time and room, my overall lacrosse IQ, my abilities to clear the ball and push in transition and my feeding game. I would describe my style of play as very smooth and controlled, with the ability to react to each aspect of a game.  I also pride myself on being a two-way midfielder that can excel on both the offensive and defensive ends.

What area of your game do you need to work on?
The area of my game that needs the most work is my left hand.  I know in order to compete at the Division 1 level you need to be dominant with both hands.  Also, I need to improve my overall strength and quickness before I arrive at Fairfield University.

How did you get introduced to lacrosse and what other sports have you played?
I was introduced to Lacrosse through my dad, Ken DaRos, who played Division I lacrosse.  He has such a plethora of knowledge not only about lacrosse, but sports in general.

In addition to lacrosse, I play football at Brewster.  For our Varsity squad, I start both ways as the quarterback and safety.

What travel team do you play on what showcase events did you participate in?
For the past three summers, I have played on Prime Time 2014.  I attended NYLA, MVP, King of the Hill, Tri-State and Battle of the Hotbeds. I earned all-star honors at King of the Hill this past June. I also attended individual showcases such as the Moonlight Showcase, Jake Reed’s Nike Blue Chip (two years) and the Under Armour All-America New England team, where I made the Top 80 all-star game.

Any final thoughts?
First and foremost, I’d like to thank my biggest influence and mentor in my life, my dad. He’s been there every step of the way throughout this process. I value all of his advice and guidance and wouldn’t be here today without him. He has such an extensive range of knowledge, which has benefited me greatly as I’ve played for him since the second grade.

Also, I’d like to thank my coach at Brewster, Mike Honey. He’s also been coaching me in both lacrosse and football since I was young. Coach Honey is able to grasp who I am as a player, and put me in situation where I can shine and showcase my skills.

Last, but certainly not least, I’d like to thank my Prime Time Director, Nick Daniello.  I am so grateful and blessed for all the work he has done for me, constantly making phone calls on my behalf.  He’s been a huge help throughout the entirety of this process, and I’m so thankful to have him on my side.
