rosullivan-e1354739803723-150x134Riley O’Sullivan has had a change of heart.

The rising junior from New Jersey Tournament of Champions finalist Don Bosco Prep verbally committed to Georgetown this past December.

But late last month, O’Sullivan decommitted from Georgetown and committed to Syracuse, as reported at Twitter.com/Joe_Lombardi.

O’Sullivan, a resident of Valley Cottage in Rockland County (N.Y.), is a skilled attackman known for his stick skills and strong shot.

recruiting_updateNow, here’s a Q&A with Riley on his decision.

What were the factors in your decision to decommit from Georgetown and commit to Syracuse?
I would like to thank the coaching staff at Georgetown for giving me the opportunity this past fall to commit to their program. (Georgetown Head) Coach (Kevin) Warne and (Assistant Coach Matt) Rewkowski are two great individuals and coaches. I have a great amount of respect and appreciation for how they run a program. My decision to decommit from Georgetown was based on what my family and I felt was a better academic and lacrosse fit for me at this time. Syracuse is a great place with a proud tradition of lacrosse and a place where I believe I can flourish both athletically and academically.

Besides Syracuse, what other colleges were you considering?
Outside of Syracuse, I had  discussions with Maryland and Fairfield

With two more varsity seasons left, what areas of your game are you looking to improve upon?
In the next two years, I am looking to  take more of a leadership role on and off the field along with working on every aspect of my game to become even more of a complete player.

What are your thoughts on the strong finish Don Bosco enjoyed to the 2013 season and how you look for 2014 without 14 college-bound graduated seniors?
We had a great year this past season and those 14 seniors played a tremendous role in our success in winning the state championship. We have a great core coming back including Mike D’Alessandro and Greg Pandise along with a number of other players. My teammates and I look forward to the hard work and challenges ahead to hopefully repeat as state champions.
