It starts with a high school doubleheader at the Big City Classic at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., and ends with the longest continuously played high school lacrosse rivalry in the nation.

  32. slacrosse says:

Congrats Town–Great “statement” win speaking to nationally elite status of team.

How the heck did you lose to Shen ??

  33. WestLax says:

Slacrosse- statement game for Rye tonight how do you see it?

    • slacrosse says:

Disappointed and very surprised at margin of loss. A thorough beat-down by Somers in all phases of the game. Yeah at least in today’s game Rye didn’t make a case at all for being competitive with a top Section 1 team.

Somers a very good team but also maybe Rye didn’t have enough of a tough edge coming into this game having had a relaticely easy time up to today in its schedule.

Hopefully this was a wake- up call and they’ll be a lot more competitive against another very good Jay team.

      • South of 287 says:

their lack of competitive schedule could not have helped

        • slacrosse says:

It all seems like you’re doing it right as you move thru easy games. But you better have an additional 20% or so effort, team work, technique, etc in you to play vs the most competitive teams. Not saying at all that this means you win but at least when you take the field your expectations of how to perform and what to expect are primed to a higher degree.

          • lax says:

Definitely seems like a similar type of situation to the Bronxville teams you liked to harp on the last couple of years. Solid team that is hanging big wins on average teams on a mediocre schedule that can’t elevate to the better teams.

  34. always around says:

Some times an early loss makes you better ,and they weren’t so bad.We did not play well but we did today

        • Big Easy says:

You are missing the context…”west lax” was hyping Nick Mariano’s 7 goals against Somers last week…here was his quote….”7 for Mariano? Ouch, Look out Class B”…my response was “bet he doesn’t net 7 vs ‘Nade of ‘Field”..that’s it…I root for Town on this blog….just not for overbearing hype machines. Anyone can be anybody on this site…but I have a pretty good idea who “west lax” and “always around” is…

  46. sec1 says:

    5-2 Lee

  47. sec1 says:

6-2 on Turn over Baker with 3

  48. On My Wy says:

One of the best all around games for Somers. ( Wasn’t at JJ game ) Defense was smothering, goalie was solid. Offense shared the ball. Rye did not have an answer on offense. #8 for Somers was an absolute surgeon at the face-off X. Also very Im pressed with the Rye goalie. Hey Somers fans stop talking about Coach Lou’s job, he does a great Job!!!

    • Laxalicious says:

I wouldn’t call the Somers defense smothering. I would call it effective. They played a zone and Rye didn’t have an answer. The Somers O clicked pretty well hitting backside cutters for open shots all day. The Rye goalie was insanely good.

      • slacrosse says:

Was surprised and disappointed that Rye either didn’t come up with a way to play the zone or if they did, it didn’t work! I know this game shook the team up which hopefully could be good going forward. Also very importantly, Rye still has Jay, IP and New Canaan coming up. Even if lose to those top teams, will toughen Rye up for play-offs.

This is not to come down on Rye’s League opponents some of whom have given Rye very close games and have beaten Rye (Fox Lane and Byram Hills in particular). It’s just that Rye and all their League opponents want (or should want) to play competition they perceive to be at least equal if not better.

  49. sec1 says:

    6-5 end of 3
    7-5 in 4th

  50. sec1 says:

    10-6 Smith with his 2nd

  51. sec1 says:

    12-6 Final

  52. JJ says:

JJ definitely has some work to do, they can hang with town and ridgefield they just need to play with some more confidence. I was at the Town-Chaminade game and JJ players were there taking in the action before there game. They were definitely impressed by Yorktown, hopefully they can take what they saw and get back to playing JJ lacrosse

  53. Truth says:

Truth is if Jay plays like they did against Ridgefield They won’t see Town in play offs. Town will be playing someone else.

  54. LAX says:

Town is by far and away the best in sec 1 this year. Jay has been extremely inconsistent, very impressive vs. Manhasset though. Truth is they are just not as talented as their national ranked teams a few years back, they don’t have any Bohlanders or Bocklets (cousins don’t count) or Daniellos any more. What they need is more players like this, they don’t have any offensive stars on their roster at all especially with Beck out. Jack Lambert is exceptional but he can’t carry the load on his own particularly on offense.

    • Indian J says:

I agree with LAX, Jay has more or less had a good year so far with all things considered. This is especially true where the Manhasset win is concerned. They are not like a 04-08 team. But, they’re alive and if they can find consistency they should close out with mostly wins and get to the sectional finals. Nothing we’ve seen as of yet suggests that they can’t do that.

Supposedly, the 8th grade for Jay is loaded like in the past, but it’ll be a while before those kids start contributing at the varsity level.

  55. Panther Pride says:

Finally in Pville was 15-1 Panthers over Keio
