Thirteen sophomores from the region have already made college commitments. (You can check the rundown below.)

Two of those commitments have come in the last 24 hours.

As we told you yesterday here and today on InsideLacrosse.com, Liam Blohm, a longstick midfielder from Syosset, opted for Ohio State.

As we reported earlier today on Twitter, another defensive standout, Sachem North’s Michael Aronow picked Penn State.

Aronow was selected to the Suffolk County Rising Sophomore Top 20 team. He also performed well at the Jake Reed Camp and was an All-Star at Blue Chip 225 in the Elite Division.

“Michael is a great kid with tremendous athletic ability,” Sachem North coach Jay Mauro said. “He has a great head on his shoulders. He understands that hard work pays off and the team comes first. ”

As dean of students for 10th- and 11th-graders at Sachem North, Mauro also takes pride in Aronow’s academic accomplishments.

“I am very excited to watch him develop over the next three years,” Mauro said. “He is also very good in the classroom being in honors classes and not having a grade below an 80 on his report card. He take pride in his academics as well.”

Aronow played over the summer at the Long Island Lax Fest, Lehigh Lax Fest, Tri-State Lax, Hogan Hero, Hofstra Blue and Gold and Nor’Easter.

In the fall, he played at tournaments at Stony Brook and Hofstra with Sachem North.
