I know there are several factors at work but how can mercer begin a D1 program when all these bigger schoolsbin vigger conferences cant or wont

    • NYmike says:

wow – that’s the last post I try to send from my phone with the sun on the screen. “schools in bigger conferences can’t or wont'” of course. Particularly Big Ten and ACC schools with huge athletic programs – and it can’t all be a title IX issue.

      • BigBadBear says:

many factors here, I happen to know a bit about Mercer..no football team in the football happy south…lacrosse is much less expensive to start up than football.they are using lacrosse to attract kids to the school, and Ga is beginning to see a big uplift in High School lacrosse..what’s a bit surprizing to me is that Ohio State would even schedule them…and I am also way surprized by that Sienna score, they really got walloped..

FYI. Mercer vs. Dartmouth at Darien HS, Sunday March 6th, 1pm.

          • nymike says:

Thats some big fish to play in a first year program, no? when we left Ga in “04 there were maybe 8 HS teams in the state. now they have a real competitive travel team in the Peaches and a top team in the SE in Lovett. And now Mercer?

  5. Just sayin says:

    Gallasso is legitttt

  6. WI Guy says:

Solid opening win for Duke vs. a Siena team that is very competitive. Justin Turri will have to be the man this year!

  7. FrankUrso says:

Nice Job by Zach Howell – the Huntington boy who anchored those brilliant Blue Devil teams with the Brattons – consistently under the radar but consistently putting up big numbers and being an acknowleged team leader.

  8. slacrosse says:

Pretty surprised that Hofstra only beat Colgate 6-3!!

  9. Observer Lax says:

I agree slacrosse but it is the opening game and it sounds like Colgate may have held the ball?
