It will be state champ vs. state champ as defending Connecticut Class L state champion Fairfield Prep hosts Massachusetts Division 1 champion Duxbury today at 1 p.m. at Alumni Field on the campus of Fairfield University. Duxbury has won nine state titles since 2002.

Also of interest in Connecticut, Brien McMahon hosts Joel Barlow at 4 p.m.

LL_Game-Day-CROPPED16The annual Walker Cup game between Nassau County rivals Massapequa and Hicksville is also among the games on today’s schedule. The opening faceoff is set for 4:15 p.m. in Hicksville.

Also in Section 8, Friends Academy (7-0) looks to stay unbeaten when it visits Island Trees at 4:30 p.m. In 7 p.m. games, Syosset visits Oceanside, Port Washington plays at Mac Arthur and Seaford hosts Oyster Bay.

Turning to Suffolk County, red-hot Smithtown East hosts Sachem North at 4 p.m. among nine games on the slate.

In Section 1 (N.Y.), Putnam Valley made history yesterday as the Tigers defeated Lakeland/Panas for the first time in school history. The Tigers return to action today with a 4:30 p.m. game at North Salem.

Also of note, White Plains hosts Suffern at 4 p.m., and in a pair of Rockland County clashes, Nanuet hosts North Rockland and Clarkstown North visits Pearl River at 4:15 p.m. and Clarkstown South hosts Tappan Zee at 5:15 p.m.

In the CHSAA, Holy Trinity visits Iona Prep at 5 p.m.

Governor’s Academy (Mass.) plays at Phillips Exeter (N.H.) in a prep game of note.

Upstate New York action is highlighted by games between visiting Canandaigua and Hamburg and host Orchard Park and Pittsford.

Lawrenceville plays at Princeton High School in a 4:15 p.m. game to highlight today’s slate in New Jersey.
