Brendan Sunday has provided Arlington High School (NY) with a noteworthy first.

The attackman/midfielder has become the first boys lacrosse player in program history to make a college commitment.

As first reported late last month at Twitter.com/joe_lombardi, Sunday has decided on Towson University.

At 6-foot-4, 182 pounds, Sunday has exceptional size to go along with a strong dodging ability and field vision, as evidenced by his highlight film.

Now, here’s a Q&A with Brendan on his commitment.recruiting_update

What were the main factors in your decision?
Although I enjoyed all of my visits, Towson soon became my clear favorite because of the location, coaching staff and strength of schedule. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to become a part of their program.

What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
This fall, I visited Towson, Binghamton, Stony Brook, Albany and Marist.

Besides Towson, I strongly considered Binghamton and Stony Brook.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
I feel that I am a strong dodger with good field vision who also carries well. I like to isolate and beat my defender to get an open look at the cage or draw a slide to hit a teammate for an assist.

How did you get introduced to lacrosse and what other sports have you played?
I was introduced to lacrosse in the second grade by my older brothers and my father who was also my youth coach.

In addition to lacrosse, I also play basketball.

Who have been some of the biggest influences on you during your development as a player?
My family, coaches and teammates have and will continue to influence me the most.

What travel team did you play on and what were some of the big showcase events you participated in last summer?
I play for Premier Lacrosse. This past summer I played in team events at Syracuse, Yale, Maverik and  CT Charger tournaments.

I also played in individual events such as the Moonlight Section One Showcase, National Invite 175 and The Fab Frosh Showcase, where I made the all-star team.

This summer, I will be attending the Maverik Showtime camp.

Three D1 commitments in the past two years and a good amount of D II/III over the past three years as well. Looks like the current coaching staff at Arlington is getting the program pointed in the right direction. Great job! Keep it up!
