If you’re looking to find an image that be shows what Chris Hubler brings to the lacrosse field, a lunch pail would be just perfect.

“I am a blue-collar middie who is at my best between the restraining lines,” said the junior at Rumson-Fair Haven High School (N.J.) and Team United travel team standout. “I get a lot of ground balls, play solid defense, and am very effective in the clearing game.”

Those abilities are on display in Hubler’s highlight reel.

There isn’t a team around anywhere that wouldn’t benefit big-time from that kind of player.

So Johns Hopkins fans should be very happy that the 5-foot-11, 185-pound right-hander will be heading south on I-95 to Homewood Field.

Hubler’s verbal was first reported last week at Twitter.com/joe_lombardi.

Now, here’s a Q&A with Chris on his commitment.

What were the main factors in your decision?
I wanted to play a high-level of lacrosse, but not sacrifice academics at the same time.  Hopkins is a great fit for me because it offers me a great opportunity to play at the highest level of lacrosse and get a unbelievable education.

What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
I visited Lafayette, Holy Cross, Fairfield, and Princeton. I was also considering some schools in the NESCAC Conference.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
I am a blue-collar middie who is at my best between the restraining lines.  I get a lot of ground balls, play solid defense, and am very effective in the clearing game.

What areas of your game have you been working to improve on?
I would like to get stronger and faster, so I will be able to continue playing my physical style of play at the next level.  Also, I want to improve my offensive game and become smoother with my stick.

Who have been some of the biggest influences on you during your development as a player?
My family and many coaches throughout my career. Throughout my life, I’ve spent a lot of time in the backyard playing lacrosse with my brother, Matt.

My youth coaches, Dale Oehler and Joe Campbell, really taught me the fundamentals of the game.

Currently, my high school coach, Reid Jackson, and my club coaches — Steve Carcaterra, Ric Beardsley and Dave Zoni — have all pushed me to improve my game in an effort to reach my full potential.

What travel team did you play on and what were some of the big showcase events you participated in last summer?
I have played for Team United the last two years, which has been awesome.  Coach Carcaterra and Coach Beardsley have been outstanding on the field with lacrosse and off the field supporting me throughout this recruiting process.

I played in four tournaments with them this past summer and attended the Maverik Showtime Recruiting Showcase.
