High school teams that have combined for 90 state titles will be competing in one venue on Sunday, Nov. 18.

They will be vying at Tom Rotanz’s Shoreham-Wading River Fall Classic, which is annually regarded as the premier event on the fall schedule in the tristate region. This year’s event will be played at Farmingdale State College.

Among the teams competing will be: CHSAA powers Chaminade and St. Anthony’s, defending New York State champs Garden City and  Shoreham-Wading River, defending Connecticut state champ Darien as well as such other state title winners as Ward Melville, West Islip, Yorktown, Manhasset and Ridgefield (Conn.). There will be plenty of other strong programs as well, including John Jay-Cross River. For a rundown of all teams participating, check here.

Sounds like a great day of lax. Kudos to Coach Rotanz for putting it all together.

  2. Old Rugger says:

Sounds like a great field once again. Joe I believe Duxbury has won. Few state titles

  3. SWR Lax says:

The article just highlighted a few of the bigger name state champs. Overall, there are about a dozen or more that will be playing Sunday that have won state titles in their histories.

  4. IslandLaxpert says:

Quite a power packed field of teams.

  5. Ride the Wave says:

Taking the ride out east for this on Sunday. Looking forward to a great day of fall lacrosse.

  6. Lax n stuff says:

Would be interested to hear any reports from folks who attended this today.

  7. Friar Tuck says:

St A’s was on point. Crisp play despite not having some FB players. Unselfish. Good showing against strong comp – Syosset, Yorktown, Darien.

  8. always around says:

Hmmm Ytown beat Darien St.Ant and Northport

  9. Old Rugger says:

A great day of Lacrosse, due to the big storm lots of football playoffs and showcases, allstar games were postponed until this weekend resulting in many of the teams being at less than full strength. The Chaminade team looked especially depleted. JJ lost to SWR beat Duxbury and Chaminade. Lots of college coaches and especially thankful for the parking situation much better than at SWR. Smithtown East looked good.

  10. Old Rugger says:

I know one of the Hill Academy teams dominated a very underclassmen Chaminade team.

  11. My take says:

With football taking players away more so than in the past, the quality of play was not as good as it’s been.
