Princeton-bound Jake Froccaro had a huge game scoring wise and on faceoffs, leading Team Freedom to an 11-9 win over Team Spirit in the Champion All-American Showcase at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla, yesterday.

Froccaro, the former Port Washington star, scored five goals and won 10-of-13 faceoffs.

Rutgers-bound Kris Alleyne of Clarkstown South held Team Pride scoreless in the fourth quarter as Team Liberty won the consolation game 10-9 in OT. The winning goal was scored by Massapequa’s  Dan Muller. Chaminade’s Brendan Caputo scored two goals.

Froccaro was named Team Freedom’s MVP. Chandler Kirby of Jericho won Team Freedom’s Sportsmanship Award while teammate Tanner Scales, the former Salisbury standout, was named Team MVP. Dartmouth-bound Jabron Ahmad of Hackley earned Team Liberty MVP honors. Former Bridgewater-Raritan star Ray Mastroianni was named Team’s MVP. The team’s Sportsmanship Award went to Caputo.

Enjoyed watching the game. Did not have a chance to see Froccaro during the HS season because he is not on a marquee team but seeing him in action it’s no wonder I heard Joe L. rave about his abilities on MSG Varsity quite a few times. Princeton has a great one and arguably the best player in 2012 in the tristate area.
