If you’re looking for a player who epitomizes the term “pure scorer,” look no further than Ben Andreycak.

The rising senior attackman was the leading scorer for Fordham Prep this past season, finishing with 57 goals and 38 assists for 95 points as the Rams went 13-7, won the CHSAA championship and beat rival Iona Prep three times.

With Andreycak and a strong nucelus returning next season,  the Rams could be the favorites to repeat.

It should be interesting. So too should Andreycak’s college career. He decided yesterday where it will be spent. If you’ve checked our “Updated recruiting review and commitment rundown,” you already know.

Andreycak has given a verbal commitment to attend 2010 Division III national champion and 2011 national finalist Tufts.

What were the main factors in your decision to attend Tufts?
I wanted to go to a highly selective institution with outstanding academics where I could receive a great education. I also wanted a school that played a high level of lacrosse where I could compete for a national championship. Tufts University fit perfectly and after spending time with the coaches and players I knew it was a place I would love.

What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
I talked to multiple NESCAC, Ivy, and Patriot League schools throughout the process and visited Brown, Holy Cross and Amherst.

What adjustments do you think you will need to make to play at the next level?
I will need to continue to develop my body and work on my strength and speed. I will also need to continue to develop all aspects of my lacrosse skills.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
I would consider myself a high IQ player with good field awareness and a nose for the cage.

What players have you looked up to as you have moved up through the varsity ranks?
I have looked up to Fordham Prep players such as Chris Smith and Connor Brown throughout my high school years as guys who were successful at a small program and able to play in college at great schools. I have also been influenced by my school coaches Len DeLucia, Justin Henry and Ryan Gorup. They pushed me to be the best player I could be.

When did you first realize you had the potential to play at the college level?
After making a few all-star games at camps the summer going into my junior year I started to realize that I could play at the next level. That feeling was reinforced after having success this past season.
