Can the Putnam Valley Tigers make it a three-peat?

That’s one of the main story lines entering the season in Section 1, which includes Westchester, Rockland, Putnam and Dutchess counties.

If the Tigers are to take another Class C title, Kevin Christopher will be one of the big reasons why.

Christopher, an all-section midfielder, is one of several standouts from the Hudson Valley bound for coach Brian Brecht’s program at Siena.

Will Christopher’s return be enough for the Tigers to overcome the loss of all-time leading scorer Ryan Fitzgerald, who looks to be an impact player as a freshman at St. John’s?

Well, the Tigers undoubtedly are the favorite. Especially since six-time finalist Rye has moved up to Class B.

Be sure to weigh in with your thoughts in our latest poll question, “Who do you think should be the favorite to win the Section 1 Class C title?”

On the right panel of this page, just scroll past the “New Comments” and “Popular” tabs and click on “Poll,” and then cast your vote from the choices available, or write in your choice if it’s not listed.

Now, here’s Kevin’s perspective on the season.

What have you been doing to get ready for the season?
We have been doing a lot work on increasing our overall fitness levels, specifically trying to increase our strength and speed in the weight room. We also go as a team to an indoor facility to practice once a week.

How does your schedule look, including scrimmages, and what games are you looking forward to?
Our schedule is just as tough as it can get. With all the section one power-houses in our schedule, it looks pretty competitive.  The game I always look forward to is the Rye game. It’s always been a pretty good match-up and I still feel a rivalry in it because of the past sectional games we’ve had.

What players on your team do you think will surprise some people this season?
I think we have great defensive players coming back in Logan Bagarozy and Max Ringbom, and three great midfielders and our goaltender. I believe that all of these players will shock a couple people this season with their play.

What do you think the strength of your team will be this year?
I think the midfield will be the strength of our team this year. We have the most depth and players returning at that area that are really looking to prove something for our team.

How do you view the race in Section 1 Class C and who do you think the contending teams will be?
Pleasantville, Bronxville, Pelham, Byram Hills.
