Earlier this month, Conor Prunty stood alone.

Though he was among nine players from the Hudson Valley region named as an all-American, he was the only one who had not committed to a college.

No more.

In case you missed our update here earlier this week, Prunty has given a verbal commitment to attend Siena.

Here’s a Q&A with the 6-foot-1 midfielder on his commitment.

What were the main factors in your decision to attend Siena?
Siena has a lot to offer. It’s a very nice school in a nice area. It’s a great size. It has a great business school, and the coaching staff and the program is awesome. They’ve done a lot of nice things with their program and they’ll be surprising people in the next couple years.

What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
I visited Fairfield, Delaware and Marist. Fairfield was a very close second. They have great program over there and it was tough to decide between the two. Delaware and Marist were also very nice.

What adjustments do you think you will need to make to play at the next level?
To play at the next level, I feel like I need to get quicker and stronger. I need to be more explosive on dodges and become more of a two-way middie.

What players have you looked up to as you have moved up through the varsity ranks?
When I was in eighth grade, I always loved to watch Andrew Collins (an all-America middie for L/P in 2007, who is now playing at Drexel). He played similar to the way I do now. And I’ve always looked up to Andy O’Mara. He played defense for us last year and we also played football together. He is a great leader and I learned a lot from him.

When did you first realize you had the potential to play at the D-I level?
I think I first realized last summer. I played a couple good tournaments then sent out some e-mails to a couple coaches and it picked up from there.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
I think my strength is being able to use both hands and my style is to go. I like to get it and push the ball. In transition and 6-on-6, I like to be aggressive and push the tempo.
