The Manhasset Indians officially begin defense of their Class C state championship today with a 4:30 p.m. game at the Friends Academy.

That’s one of 10 games involving Nassau-based teams today.

In Suffolk, West Babylon plays at Bay Shore and Bayport-Blue Point visits Commack among the six games on the schedule.

As always, be sure to post your thoughts on these matchups as well as any info on the scores and game details.

    Joe,

Congrats and good luck in year 2 of the LaxLessons blog.

I have a request of you, with the season now underway. I would like you to send a computer virus to each and every nitwit who writes in any way shape or form that his team was Clearly The Better Team by virtue of “dominating” the course of play, more shots, bigger hits, etc., yet somehow manages to lose the game by scoring fewer goals than their opponent. I encourage you to demand that supporters of teams who lose contests accept that they were Not Clearly The Better Team on that day. The first of these will happen any day now, so I appreciate your support. Thank you.

Manhasset had 14-5 lead after 3 and won 16-8. Sounds like they might still have some players huh ?

Good win for Set vs. Friends but I don’t know if it tells us too much. South Side on Friday and Northport next week will be very interesting. Then John Jay soon after that.

From my point of view the Friends Acad was the better team as they controlled the ball most of the time even though the score did not reflect it. Friends issued some good solid hits that ahd Manh backing up , yet they did manage to throw a few good shots in. This post is here for Lax Novice if you guys have not figured it out by now enjoy!

JJ v. Arlington today. Anyone hear or see anything?

  6. LI Lax says:

Connetquot beating Mt. Sinai 13-6 definitely is significant in Suffolk…Mt. Sinai isn’t great but last year they did manage to handle Connetquot 11-6. Connetquot is not really a sleeper given that they did reach the Suffolk A semis last year, but this reinforces the thought that they’ll be a strong contender this season.

JJ v. Arlington JJ look good… Scorre would have been 17-2 if they keep the scoreboard running. JJ’s defense looked real good. Looked as thiugh JJ lost a middie or two in the game. … Arlington is not at the same level.

Just heard Merlino of Jay is out for yr with a torn ACL?

I hope it’s wrong but if not, that’s terrible for the kid and I wish him the speediest recovery!!

He’ll be ready to do damage at UMBC for sure.

  9. RexLax says:

Interesting how the Nassau teams get into full swing with their schedules a week before everyone else. Maybe that gives them an edge over this area too?

  10. laxerrrrrrrr says:

Yes unfortunately, Merlino has torn his ACL and is out for the year.

  11. Lax Novice says:

    Great job, Dee-up!

  12. LAX says:

Tough break for JJ losing one of their top middies but this kinda stuff happens. Get well soon Brandon stay positive your future looks bright at the D1 level.
