Weekly awards have just launched for collegiate conferences throughout the nation, and two former high school all-Americans from the Hudson Valley region are among the winners.

Somers’ Mike Novosel (pictured at right), a senior goaltender at Dartmouth, was named Ivy League player of the week.

Former John Jay star Chris Daniello, meanwhile, was named Big East offensive player of the week.

Both Novosel and Daniello came up big to lead their teams to win this past weekend. Novosel had 15 saves as Dartmouth opened the season with a win at Colgate. Daniello had a career-high four goals as Syracuse improved to 2-0 by beating Army.

Maybe Daniello will start getting some love/ respect from ‘Cuse fans. Not as sexy as Jamieson or Keough, no buzz like JoJo, all he does is play for the team, wherever the team needs him, and PRODUCE. Hopefully he gets his due this year.

Congrats to Mike and Chris – two of the best in Section 1 just a few years back!

    Town Fans,

Hey wanted to pay a compliment to Joe Bonitatibus on a great effort in the Rye hockey game. Really good player just like his brother.

Good luck to he and Town on the lacrosse field.
