Lacrosse was featured this morning on NBC’s TODAY show.

In case you missed the segment, you can watch it here.

Nicky Polanco, the mammoth defenseman for the Long Island Lizards, led a demonstration of the sport for co-anchors Matt Lauer and Meredith Vieira
as well as weatherman Al Roker and news anchor Ann Curry.

The 6-foot-4, 235-pound Polanco, the Oceanside product and former Hofstra star, gives a good overview of the sport before leading a shooting competition featuring the anchors.

Four consecutive games will do that.

But that’s not to say I didn’t have a great time tonight at Purchase College for the Sound Shore Summer League championship games.

That was fun to watch. Matt Lauer shoots like a girl though haha. Polanco is a beast towering over everyone.

  2. Setter says:

Good stuff. I think Dougherty played possum on Lauer’s first shot.

Maybe ten years ago we would’ve all said great exoosure for lax. But its great to see since then this type of exposure in the media and even TV shows like the new 90210 is a routine occurence. I still enjoying watching it though. Thanks for sharing the video.

Saw Blake Miller #26 in there, I think he’s older than Al Roker.

Also, Lauer graduated from Greenwich High School in Fairfield County, CT, he should be ashamed of that cradle.
