We have some  breaking recruiting news, folks.

Manhasset standout attackman Zac Koufakis informed me this morning that he has just committed to join new coach Andy Towers’ program at Dartmouth.

Koufakis also drew interest during the recruiting process from Yale, Harvard, Middlebury, Maryland, Bucknell and Notre Dame — among others.

This is a great fit for both Zac and Dartmouth — and a great story, too. As we’ve documented (click link here), Zac has worked hard to return to action after suffering an ACL injury.

Koufakis will enroll at Dartmouth as a freshman in the fall of 2011 after spending a season at the Deerfield Academy.

Be sure to pass any recruiting info/commitment news directly to me at joe@laxlessons.com.

Good for him! He’ll have his work cout out for him to get on the field coming in behind Dysenchuck from Darien and Cavness from CO.

There’s no way someone who had Harvard or Yale would pick Dartmouth.

It said he drew interest from Yale and Harvard not that they offered him. Read the article before you go popping off.
