1. West Islip: Now it’s time to live up to the hype. (Last week: No. 1)

2. St. Anthony’s: Showdowns vs. Chaminade and Yorktown will tell plenty. (Last week: No. 2)

3. Darien: Team’s Blue-White scrimmage today should be a real good run for both sides. (Last week: No. 3)

4. Yorktown: Huskers will be tested with consecutive games against Rye, St. Anthony’s and Somers, starting Thursday. (Last week: No. 4)

5. Manhasset: UVa-bound Connor English starts his sendoff season with a bang. (Last week: No. 6)

6. Cold Spring Harbor: Very solid start. (Last week: No. 7)

7. Chaminade: The Flyers have quickly shown there is no such thing as an off year here. (Last week: No. 13)

8. Ward Melville: Suffolk standard bearer. (Last week: No. 9 )

9. Ridgefield: Tigers have reason to be energized by strong showing at Daniel Hand tournament. (Last week: No. 10)

10. Fairfield Prep: Saw some stiff competition at Darien round-robin scrimmage day. (Last week: No. 11)

11. Rocky Point: Anxious to show last year was no fluke. (Last week: No. 12)

12. Greenwich: Cardinal played well in scrimmage vs. Rye. (Last week: No. 14)

13. Syosset: Bumpy start leads to big drop. (Last week: No. 5)

14. Garden City: Trojans picked up big win over South Side. (Last week: No. 8 )

15. Massapequa: Holding steady. (Last week: No. 15)

16. John Jay: After facing Darien and Delbarton back-to-back in preseason, Indians are battle-tested without having even played a game. (Last week: No. 16)

17. Mount Sinai: Veteran coach Joe Cuozzi is back for more. (Last week: No. 17)

18. Iona Prep: Gaels beat John Jay in a scrimmage without leading scorer Nick Trizano. (Last week: No. 18)

19. Somers: Tuskers open up with three straight rivalry games: Mahopac (Thursday), Hen Hud (Saturday) and Yorktown (Tuesday). (Last week: No. 19)

    These look solid. Based on what I’ve heard John Jay may be too highly ranked though.

    The way Syosset has been playing of late you can argue they belong below GC if though they beat GC.

    I agree that GC should be ahead of Syosset. That’s a mistake on our parts, but one we can live with. Also, CSH should be high up in the Nassau regional rankings instead of not in top 5 at all. We need to stop watching college hoops and playing capture the flag at Joe’s compound while we make these rankings. LOL.

    You can make arguments both ways. I’ve seen them both like Joe has amd at this point I give Syosset the edge too.

    Syosset, Rocky Point, Mt. Sinai all too high IMO. Syosset just doesn’t have it this year. RP doesn’t have Tom P. and Mt. Sinai lost CHapman.
