Game was played at SUNY Purchase in the pouring rain…it didnt stop at any moment throughout the game.  Regardless of the weather, a nice crowd still showed up for this highly anticipated final between Team Glo (top players mainly from Darien, Conn.) and Prime Time (based out of John Jay).

Team Glo goalie Andrew West  Darien/Cornell ) when asked what he thought about the game: “Great game, first time in three years that we beat them, they have beat us lately in the playoffs, so its nice to get one back.”

West when asked what he thought about the summer league: “This summer league is the best game in town/area with great competition.”

Division 2 –

High Impact  11, Captain Lawrence 3

Craig Andrezjewski, Rocky Bonitatibus and Paul Santivicca all had three goals for High Impacts. They were supported by JJ Lian’s two-goal effort and Chris Cousin, who had four saves.

Leading Capt. Lawrence were Tom Dooley , John O’Sullivan and Tim Fuchs, who each had one goal. Kevin Rae had seven saves.

It was High Impact’s first Sound Shore championship in its first season in the league.

“Being a first-year team in summer league we really wanted to show what we could do,” stated head coach Drew Werney. “Our guys really played their hearts out because we know how tough Sound Shore is.”

“Playing in the league for 10 years, I know it’s really great to win a ‘Cohen Cup,’ ” said Rocky Bonitatabus. ” The guys from Yorktown really enjoy playing in this top-flight league.”

Highlights: Jim Gregory’s third goal won it for Topside.Tough, hard-hitting game with a number of roughing penalties. Topside took a 5-3 lead into the half . Topside stretched it to 6-3  before Beechers came roaring  back with some strong midfield play to score three unanswered goals . The game went back and forth but regulation time ended with the teams knotted at 9.
