Michael DeLuca’s speed and tenaciousness allows him to get to a lot of ground balls.
His stick skills result in him coming away with them and often creating transition opportunities.
Those skills are on display in the St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) junior’s highlight film.
Soon, they will be on display at the next level.
DeLuca verbally committed to coach Keegan Wilkinson’s Marist College program yesterday, as first report at Twitter.com/joe_lombardi.
The 5-foot-8, 155-pound DeLuca, who has been playing lacrosse since age 6, is St. A’s third junior commit and 16th college commit overall.
Now, here’s a Q&A with Michael on his commitment.
What were the main factors in your decision?
I chose Marist because of the academics, the coaches, the players and the atmosphere.
What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
Towson, Boston University, Monmouth University, Robert Morris and St, Joseph’s.
What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
Fast, great stick skills, athletic and tenacious.
Who have been some of the biggest influences on you during your development as a player?
My coaches: Pat Brennan (LI Outlaws) and Mike Chanenchuk (St. Anthony’s).
What travel team did you play on this past summer and what were some of the showcase events you competed in?
Long Island Outlaws. I competed at Brine Shootout, MVP and Tri-State.
