The return of the Empire State Games after a two-year hiatus is front and center among the top stories in the tristate region this past week.

But there were plenty of other big ones – recruiting-wise and otherwise, including one of  Darien’s leading players making his college choice, Virginia landing a commitment from a tristate sophomore, Maverik Showtime National Recruiting Spotlight adding a girls showcase that will launch next summer and the date of the annual John Jay-Yorktown game and the visiting team from Colorado that will play both squads before they square off.

Joe Lombardi has a rundown in his weekly “High School Notebook” column for InsideLacrosse.com.

Section 1’s own, Big John Ranagan, appointed co-captain of the Jays, congrats! Also hearing KI getting run at middie, they want to see if they can get that shot on the field somehow.
And when does the season start?
