Last week had its share of highlights.

Now, it’s Day 1 of what will be another big week of games in the nation’s No. 1 hotbed for lacrosse, the New York/New Jersey/Connecticut tristate region.

Let’s start off in Section 1, where Rye, coming off a 9-3 win over Horace Greeley, visits Greeley’s main rival Fox Lane in a 5 p.m. game. Rye is 6-4. Fox Lane is 5-4.

Mamaroneck (6-4) hosts rival Scarsdale in a 7 p.m. game.

Also of note, Eastchester visits White Plains at 4:30 p.m., New Rochelle hosts Bronxville, also at 4:30 p.m., Sleepy Hollow visiand Suffern hosts Fordham Prep at 5 p.m.

In a Section 1/9 crossover, Clarkstown South visits O’Neill.

In Section 9, Warwick plays at Pine Bush and Red Hook hosts Wallkill.

It’s a light day on Long Island with just three games in Nassau, including South Side at Plainedge at 4:30 p.m., and one in Suffolk — Walt Whitman at East Islip (also at 4:30 p.m.).

In Connecticut, New Canaan hosts winless Trinity Catholic at 5 p.m., and Fairfield Prep, looking to bounce back from a 14-2 loss to Delbarton, plays at Cheshire at 6 p.m.

    Weekly Section 1 rankings
    1. Yorktown
    2. John Jay
    3. Lakeland/Panas
    4. Somers
    5. Mahopac
    6. Bronxville
    7. Brewster
    8. Suffern
    9. Arlington
    10. Rye
Bubble: Pelham, Fox Lane, Clarkstown South and Kennedy

  2. sec 1 says:

All of your bubble teams are no where near the level of the top 10. Rye who u have at 10( which is a joke) would beat any of those bubble teams by 10 easily. Pelham have played NOBODY! Im tired of all these beginner programs thinking they have the right to be ranked among the traditional powers of section one. Until they start playing powers on a consistant basis and actually compete they should not even be considered. A lot of teams would be undefeated too if they got to play teams like Keo and Haldane twice a year.

  3. slacrosse says:

    1. Yorktown
    2. John Jay
    3. Lakeland/Panas
    4. Somers
    5. Mahopac
    6. Bronxville/Brewster
    8. Arlington
    9. Rye
    10.Suffern

Class A–LP a solid fsvorite to take the Class.
Class B–Town has a bit of distance between it and J but J could win a playoff game vs Town. Somers could upset either but not likely.
Class C–Bville a strong favorite to win. Others are Pelham (Landis is an AA at LSM) Byram Hills, Dobbs Ferry.

    • lax says:

how is it that bronxville beat mahopac, but still gets ranked below them, give them a little bit of respect and put them at #5

      • slacrosse says:

IMO just because Bville beat Pac by 2 in one game doesn’t mean that Bville deserves to be rated higher—YET. Pac lost by just 1 goal to two top teams–in OT to LP (who soundly beat Bville) and to Jay. I’m therefore giving Pac the benefit of the doubt that they have played, and can play at a much higher level then in their loss to Bville and should be ranked higher (in fairness Bville can play better as well).

In terms of comparing these two teams going forward I’ll be obviously looking at how Bville and Pac do vs Somers but also how Pac does in tough games vs Town, Northport and Barlow (CT).

It’s the playoffs that count anyway.

    • slacrosse says:

Sorry–totally forgot (how could I after the 9-7 win over Rye) and def should have included Put Val in the mix in Class C

    • town plays pac, j plays lp, brew plays arlignton, some great match ups tomorrow

    • Relax says:

‘town’s a clear #1 JJ & L/P we find out in a appx 2-3 hrs so there’s a tie for now; as well as ‘pac & Bville; so the top five Sect.1 teams are: ‘town #1 JJ&L/P #2 #Bville&’pac#4. I’ve been tough on Bville, even with the refs & the home game advantage they did beat ‘pac. JJ never led in their win vs ‘pac til they won at the end so ‘pac deserves respect. That’s why there’s a tie. If JJ wins tonite they’re a clear #2 w/ L/P #3, And finally, if ‘pac pulls the upset tonite (not gonna happen, but always could)all my top five gets busted-up.Somers is not in the top 5 because they haven’t looked like a Top 5 team vs Nisky & ‘town. They can get in the Top 5 by beating Bville this Saturday

  4. Thanks for the Sanity says:

Slacrosse, thanks for the sanity and intelligent choices. Westlax bubble teams as well as his Mahopac over Bronxville are a joke with the notable exception of Pelham who deserves to be there. Westlax please stay away from your computer you’re dangerous.

    • WestLax says:

Obviously my opinion so if I missed a team it was because I either have not seen live or on tape. Putnam Valley fans yes you should have been listed. Good wins Rye and Arlington, not a good loss Dobbs Ferry.

Top Teams in each class should take tittle

      A Lakeland/Panas
B Yorktown (John Jay not far off)
      C. Bronxville

Probably the rest of the teams do not matter……much

  5. The Rock says:

Suffern 8, Fordham Prep 7 OT

  6. Old Rugger says:

    Westlax,
While I think the Savs are doing a GREAT job at Kennedy but they are not yet a top 10 team. They are improving every year without a feeder system, and have a great coaching system, but strength of schedule and team Lax IQ is not yet comparable to Bville, BH, Put Val or Hen Hud(record not great but play a very good Sect 1 schedule). Just my 2 cents

  7. scott says:

rye was up 9 or 10-1 vs Bronxville in scrimmage and then mixed the bench in in 2nd half and won 11 or 12-8..bronxville has 5 or 6 great players then drop off. so I believe Bronxville id ranked too high
