It’s been arguably the game of the year in Section 1 lacrosse for the last eight years or so.

But when John Jay and Yorktown play, it’s more than a game, it’s a community event.

With that in mind, the two communities have worked together to help special causes.

In the last few years, it’s been Breast Cancer Research and the battle against ALS.

This year’s game, set for Saturday, March 31 at 1 p.m. at Yorktown’s historic Charlie Murphy Field, will be a fundraiser for Multiple Sclerosis.

“My daughter’s fourth- grade teacher, Adele Kivel, has MS and all proceeds will go to her ‘Reach for the Stars’ team for the annual MS walk,” Yorktown coach Dave Marr said. ” Classes from my daughter’s school will be there volunteering their time to help raise money for this worthy cause.  We will be selling T-shirts and having a 50/50 raffle.”

Saturday’s game can be seen in its entirety on Monday, April 2 at 7:30 p.m. on MSG Varsity iO Channel 14.
