I was asked an interesting question on Twitter.

@CoachGarland1 wanted to know what colleges have been the big winners this summer in landing commitments.

Since the commitments continue to come in, and we won’t have a full read on the Class of 2013 until around Thanksgiving time at the earliest, I thought it was a bit early to say.

But is it? CoachGarland1 said he thought the big winners so far have been Hopkins and UNC.

What do you think? Be sure to weigh in here.

One thing is certain. There is plenty of talent to go around.

Especially when you have new varsity programs popping up around the country.

Among them is Dobbs Ferry, a first-year varsity team this past spring.

If you checked our “Updated recruiting review and commitment rundown” yesterday, you learned that Dobbs Ferry rising senior midfielder John Yozzo-Scaperrotta, who played for Prime Time’s 2012 team this summer, has committed to Brown.

The athletic Yozzo-Scaperrotta, who was all-section honorable-mention in lacrosse this past spring, is also a football/basketball standout for Dobbs.

A member of the Long Island Rising Junior Showcase team also made his college choice.

Eastport-South Manor midfielder Matt Prokesch has given a verbal commitment to Delaware.

The 6-foot, 160-pound Prokesch started his freshman and sophomore years for the Sharks, who went 14-4 this past season, losing to Shoreham-Wading River 12-10 in the Suffolk Class B semifinals.

Prokesch finished the 2011 season with 27 goals and 23 assists for 50 points.

He also considered Hofstra and UMass.
