Hey gang –

Thought this would be a good time to update you on what’s going on this fall as far as tryouts, programs, showcase events and college tournaments.

Here’s a rundown:

Clinic

Top-Side Lacrosse Free Clinic: will be held on Saturday, Nov. 14 and Sunday, Nov. 15 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Sports Underdome in Mount Vernon. Each session will be limited to 100 players. For registration information, e-mail topsidelacrosse@yahoo.com.

Tryouts

• PrimeTime: Fall tryouts for Cross River-based PrimeTime Lacrosse’s 2010 teams will be held on the following days:

• Sunday, Oct. 4: Grades 4-8, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

• Sunday, Oct. 11: Grades 9-12, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

• BareTruth Lacrosse: A brand-new youth travel team, BareTruth Lacrosse, run by former Yorktown standout Gary Raniolo will be holding tryouts on Saturday, Oct. 3 from 3-5 at the Sports Barn. There will also be another tryouts Nov. 14, also from 3-5. After that, the tryouts will be invite only.

Regional events

Lax IV Life Fall Shootout: For U-13, U-15 and high school teams will be held on Saturday, Oct. 24 at the Hopewell Recreation Center in Hopewell Junction, N.Y. For more information, contact Robert Anderson at rajr5@aol.com.

Programs

• Connecticut Chargers: Fall registration is now open. For more info, click here.

• WestRock-n-Roll Box League: Action is under way at the Putnam Valley Town Park Hockey Rink. For a look at results and the schedule, click here.

• The Hudson Valley Spartans is a new lacrosse central Westchester-based program with teams from seventh grade and up with fall programs. There will also be a girls program. The boys team will be competing in three fall tournaments and will also have summer teams. The director is Chris Kear and teams are made up mainly of Pleasantville players but open to anyone. There are now players from Ardsley, Harrison, Pleasantville and Bronxville. For more info, e-mail spartanshv@gmail.com.

    We noted above, the TopSide fall clinics at the Sports Underdome in Mount Vernon. ULAX will also be holding a winter league there. Here’s more info:

    Cost: $200/player, which includes: ULAX jersey, 8-9 regular-season games, playoffs (for the top teams), statistics and highlight videos.

    Most games will be played on Sundays from 8-9 p.m. Two games will be played on Wednesday nights.

    Here are the dates:

    Nov. 22, 25, 29

    Dec. 6, 13, 16

    Jan. 10, 17, 24, 31
