A brand-new fall lacrosse event is set to get under way.

The inaugural Gobbler Games, set for John Jay High School in Cross River, N.Y., will feature current and former player primarily from Section 1 in New York (Westchester, Rockland, Putnam and Dutchess counties).

It will be held on Saturday, Nov. 24 and Sunday, Nov. 25.

The Gobbler Games is a 7-on-7  tournament that is made up of four divisions. It will be played on five turf playing fields.

Action on Saturday will feature players 18 years and older in two divisions: open (recommended for players out of college) and top competition. For rosters of top competition teams, click here.

Sunday action is made up of the players ages 14-18 and includes varsity and junior varsity divisions.

A champion will be awarded in each division.

    Schedule?

  2. Jaybird says:

Any one know who the HS teams playing are?

  3. Laxn says:

Will be interesting to see how this goes. Seems like an interesting concept. Didn’t even know college players could play in tournaments like this in season.

  4. Bear Facts says:

Um. I heard that a few teams don’t have enough players?

  5. SirLaxalot says:

    How did it go today?

  6. Lax n stuff says:

Had planned on checking this out today. But it was just too cold for lax. Any one with any info?

  7. Mel Blanc says:

Team Tune Squad rolled through the HS Varsity Division at the Gobbler Games. This was a really fun day for the boys and I wish more kids had played. More like a street ball, pick-up game than anything else. Really fast and high scoring.

    Here is the Squad:

    G Eddie Gilman – Hen Hud/Governor’s/UNC
    D Trevor Koelsch – Ytown/Hopkins
    D Mike Skluth – John Jay/Albany
    LSM/D Joe Fraietta – Hen Hud/Stony Brook
    M Alex Corpolongo – Somers/Stony Brook
    M Matt Ledwin – Hen Hud/Hopkins
    M Brian Prestreau – Ytown/Stony Brook
    A Nick Mariano – Ytown/UMass
    A Kevin McDermott – Hen Hud/Salisbury

Thank you to the Bocklet family for organizing this really enjoyable event.

  8. Laxit says:

Cold weather and not a lot of players but those who played seemed to enjoy it.

  9. rlaxfamily says:

maybe more teams would have played if more high school teams got together and played. The team above represents 4 top high schools not sure why the got this team together instead of fielding 4 school teams.

    • Mel says:

Maybe these kids are friends and decided to put their own team together. No schools, coaches or parents. Just some kids putting together their own team and having fun. Isn’t that the best way?

  10. Arnold says:

I thought it was a great concept and the kids who played had fun. Agree that more HS teams should have played. I believe I might only have seen 3 or 4 legit high school squads. Hen Hud Tune Squad but only had 2-3 hen hud players? They def. all got some skill. Only other team that I saw stood out was a team from Dutchess. Reminded me of park pick up Bball games back in the day. Again, Great Concept! Look forward to watching next year.
