When we reported the developments involving longtime Shoreham-Wading River varsity coach Tom Rotanz last week, we were very careful to phrase the headline saying Rotanz “could” be out as the Wildcats’ coach.
Nearly all other reports on the developments had already seemingly sealed Rotanz’s fate by saying he “is” out and reporting his ouster as a fait accompli.
Not so fast.
Last night, at a packed school board meeting, a new athletic director was appointed as efforts to keep Rotanz, who has led SWR to three state titles, in place as head coach, have gained momentum.
