Long Island got its regular season going last week.

This week, much of New York State gets things going this week.

As far as today goes, a winter storm could result in some cancellations this first full week of spring. Even though little snow is expected in most parts of the tristate region, the projected arrival time is in the afternoon/early evening, with most of the precipitation south of New York City. Be sure to check the latest forecast.

LL_Game-Day-CROPPED16As far as games scheduled to be played, it is a light day in terms of scheduled games.

Half Hollow Hills East’s potent offense, led by Binghamton University-bound senior attackman Jesse Parker (who had four goals and three assists in a 15-9 win over Plainedge last week), faces a Smithtown East squad with one of the tristate region’s top goaltenders, in University of North Carolina-bound senior Brian Balkam. Game-time is 3:30 p.m. at Hills East.

Also at 3:30 p.m., Smithtown West travels to West Babylon and Sachem North visits Hauppauge. In a noon game, Northport visits William Floyd.

In girls lacrosse, nationally ranked West Genesee (N.Y.) opens its season by hosting Skaneateles (N.Y.).
