If you checked our “Updated recruiting review and commitment rundown” yesterday, you learned Sachem North now has 10 seniors who have committed to play in college.

The latest verbal for coach Jay Mauro’s Flaming Arrows came from Tyler Novak, who will attend Florida Southern, an up-and-coming Division II program whose roster now includes eight Long Islanders, including former Sachem North player Jordan Manger, a junior, who, like Novak, is a midfielder.

Novak said Florida Southern’s location was among the deciding factors, as was the school’s campus.

“Fifteen of the buildings were designed by Frank Lloyd Wright,” Novak said.

Other factors included “the coach (Marty Ward) and his accessibility” and the fact that “Florida Southern offers guaranteed internships.”

Novak, an aggressive two-way middie, also considered Coker, Belmont Abbey, Tampa and Adelphi.
