The mission of BraveGoals4Autism is to promote awareness, tolerance and acceptance for kids with autism, raise funds for autism programs across Long Island and increase the number of student volunteers involved in the initiative.

That effort will be on full display on Saturday, Nov. 12 at Syosset High School when varsity and junior varsity teams will be competing in the Battles of the Counties Lacrosse Tournament.

The program was founded by Syosset junior defenseman Kyle Haber and two of his brothers, twins Ryan and Sean. Their youngest brother, Conor, 11, is autistic.

In addition to host Syosset, teams representing Nassau will be Hewlett, Hicksville, Long Beach, Oceanside, Port Washington and Roslyn.

The field of Suffolk teams will be made up of West Islip, St. Anthony’s, Shoreham-Wading River, Half Hollow Hills East and Half Hollow Hills West and Eastport-South Manor.

A $1,000 donation will be made to the BraveGoals4Autism program. So far, they have raised more than $30,000 for the cause.

Action in the Nov. 12 tournament runs from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
